Master Vicente Herrera has 30 years of training and teaching Martial Arts. Master “Vincente” began his training in 1988 in an Eclectic martial art system, called Sung Jeddah; which combines Non-Traditional Karate; Kung Fu & Weapons under the instruction of Shihan Eusebio Rivera, in “San Miguelito”; a suburb closed to Panama City, Republic of Panama and obtain his Black Belt in December of 1995.
He is a 5th degree Black Belt in Mixt Martial arts received in July of 2012 and recognized by the American Federation of Martial Arts (AFMA). He also holds a 4th degree Black Belt in Nefusen Ryu Jiu-Jitsu from the International Jiu-Jitsu Association (AIJJ) & 4th Degree in Self-defense from the American Jujitsu Union (AJJUN), and 1st degree Black Belt in Kick Boxing from the Professional Kick Boxing Federation (PKF).
In 1994, only as a Blue belt competitor, Master Vicente represented his origin country for the first time as part of the Panama National AFMA Fighting team in Acapulco, Mexico; where he scored 10 points to zero against his opponent a Black belt. Master Vicente was part of AFMA-Panama Fighting Team for several years (1995,1998, 2000, 2002) and competed in several international tournaments held in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Canada and within the United States in Georgia, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas; placing in every single division from Sparring, Forms, Self Defense & Kobudo (weapons).
In November of 2004, he was inducted into his first Hall of Fame, as Outstanding Male Competitor, an event sanctioned by AFMA. In June of 2005 he was also inducted into the World Karate Union – Hall of Fame; as Master of the Year, thanks to his dedication & teachings of martial arts to his students.
On April of 2005, Master Vicente got married and moved to Spring, Texas where he currently lives with his wife and 3 children.
From 2008 & 2009 he was involved with the Houston community teaching self-defense classes at the YMCA Houston Downtown to the students who participated in the summer camp programs. Master Vicente has been invited to provide self-defense seminars in several community centers and churches in the Houston area, as well as a motivational speaker in topics related to self-esteem; respect and anti-bully tactics to teenagers and children. In 2012 & 2013 Master Vicente taught seminars at Warrior World Camp, a 3 consecutive day martial arts event in Long Island, NY.
In July of 2011 during his participation at the 23rd International AFMA Tournament in the Dominican Republic, he received the title of “Renshi” - a Japanese Title which means “Master” or one who mastered himself by Soke Adolfo Ennever and the board of directors of AFMA.
