Master Alberto Borjas has more than 40 years of training and teaching Martial Arts. Originally from Cuba, he was one of the first Taekwondo (Kukkiwon) black belts and WTF International referees from that Country. Master Borjas received his 5th Dan in 2000. He also holds black belts in Karate-Do and Chayon-Ryu Martial Arts and a brown belt in Gracie jiu-jitsu which he has been training for the last 14 years. He has also trained in other several martial arts including Judo, Krav Maga , Tai Chi, and Chin Na.
In Cuba, Master Borjas trained numerous international champions, including Pan American champions, and participated at many WTF internationals events as a referee. He was appointed from America to officiate at the WTF world championships in Manila, the Philippines, in 1995. One of the Master Borjas former students from Cuba, Angel V. Matos, became a champion at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Master Borjas was an adjunct professor at the Higher Sports Institute in Havana, Cuba, in the specialty of Taekwondo, where he taught several international courses. He has taught seminars in several countries like Russia, Mexico, Paraguay, Canada, Cuba, and the USA. Master Borjas spent several weeks in Russia, in 1990, teaching WTF Taekwondo techniques to the Russian ITF Team and preparing the referees for the 1st All Russia WTF Taekwondo Championships.
Master Alberto Borjas came to the U.S. in 1996 and taught Martial Arts for over 10 years for the Chuck Norris Kickstart Kids Foundation in Houston, TX. He currently resides in The Woodlands, TX with his wife and two daughters and continues practicing and teaching Martial Arts. Master Borjas also enjoys writing about Martial Arts, and he has published several articles in Martial Arts publications online and in Taekwondo Times Magazine.
